Columbus Community Hospital to Host Free, Walk-In Prostate Cancer Screenings with PSA Blood Test
COLUMBUS – Columbus Community Hospital will provide free prostate cancer screenings June 3 through June 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the CCH lab on 110 Shult Dr. in Columbus. The screenings are open to men 50 and older and those with a prior diagnosis of an abnormal prostate reading.

Bluff Schuetzenfest hits bullseye
LA GRANGE–Between the 1870s and 1920s, the Bluff Schuetzenverein invited people from all across Texas to participate in marksmanship contests. The bluff overlooking La Grange and the site of Kreische Brewery was also during the Bluff Schetzenfest, the site of holiday celebrations, picnics, games and German folk music.

Area teams still going in baseball and softball
At least a few teams from the tri-county area remain in the playoffs and are on the cusp of a state tournament birth. Columbus baseball played London High School May 22 at UTSA (Univer- sity of Texas at San Antonio) and Saturday, May 25 at 4 p.m. at the same location. Columbus softball played Hallettsville High School May 22 at Hallettsville, then will play the same opponent, this time at Columbus Saturday, May 25 at 4 p.m. Fayetteville baseball will play the following week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (May 28-30) with a site and op ponent still to be determined.
