Weimar finding ways to win in baseball
Wildcats baseball has been grinding out wins as they are a team that is familiar with winning after going far in the postseason pretty regularly. Weimar has really good pitching and power at the plate. Their size also helps on both sides of the ball with hitting the long ball and making plays at first base, as well as positions like right and left field.

Bellville softball outlasts Wharton
BELLVILLE - The Bellville High School softball team picked up a win against Wharton High School March 8 at Hacienda Field by a final score of 6-1. The Brahmanettes drove in timely runs when needed and held their own on the defensive end with their gloves, along with having command in the pitching circle. "We're focusing on one game at a time," said Bellville head softball coach Courtney Phillips. "Finish business. Try to finish up, start strong, and play all sev en innings. I think that’s kind of where it's gotten us a little bit in preseason where we kind of get comfortable and we sit still, we make an error, and it backfires on us. We're just trying to take one inning at a time, one game at a time, and score as many runs as we can." Bellville sophomore pitcher Ella Burnett tossed a gem and didn't allow Wharton to do much of anything at the dish. "I think I did pretty good," Burnett said. "I would say that when our de - fense is on, it's on. When we play as a team, it's just great because I love being out there when my defense is working with me. I'm a ground ball pitcher, so I get a lot of ground balls. When my de - fense is working, I think we just play great out there." Bellville took an early 2-0 lead in their very first at bat, then added their third run in the bot - tom of the third inning, which was scored by Burnett on a liner to left field from junior infielder Katie Falk. WEIMAR – Lady cats softball had a dominant bout and smashed Cameron Yoe High School by a final score of 10-6 March 1 at Wildcats Field after three innings and the time expiration rule as this game was in tournament play. A huge second and third inning for Weimar put them ahead and it was too late for Cameron Yoe to make any kind of comeback as time expired for the next game to be played in a tournament hosted by Weimar.

LA GRANGE – The La Grange High School baseball team fell to Rockdale High School in extra innings by a final score of 9-6 Feb. 27 at Leopards Field. The Schulenburg High School softball team has started the season at about even .500 as they recently defeated Snook High School 8-3 and Yorktown High School 11-1.
